Our favourite spot in De Baarsjes is the Mercatorplein and its red-brick clock tower. It's the perfect “beers & burgers” haunt on a Friday afternoon – like Café Zurich, for instance, with its sunny terrace. When we feel like having pizza, we find a table at Bar Spek Amsterdam where they serve excellent pizzas. Our tip: if you can’t choose between them, order different ones and share with each other!
The most well-known hotspots in De Baarsjes are, of course, around the Jan Evertsenstraat and the Mercatorplein. But it also pays off to walk a few minutes more, so you can come across café Cook Amsterdam, where you feel like a regular in a local pub while you savour their delicious meals. It is often called the best-kept secret of Amsterdam-West, and rightfully so.
Vanaut is another gem that not many people know about and where you’ll feel right at home. They serve the most delicious coffee and so much more. As coffee is more than a hot drink, Vanaut is more than just a coffee place. This is also where you go for mouthwatering juices, a healthy lunch, and shopping. The designer concept store has a unique range of products that changes every week. Perfect when you're looking for that perfect gift!
